A Place for Mediation Inc. was established in 1991. It arose from a growing demand from 1985 on, when in our parent agency Alternative Counselling Services we observed a need for mediation. At inception, the primary focus was culturally sensitive family mediation. Focusing primarily on multi-cultural and blended families. We were so successful in this arena that we were published in the Globe and Mail in the late 1980’s. As time progressed, our services were expanded to include other areas of mediation by request. At this time there was a demand to mediate employment and estate matters. The advent of the Mandatory Mediation program in January of 1999 legitimized the arena of civil matters. As members on the Roster since this time, we have had to increase our services to address the needs as required. Today we have evolved into a full service practice providing specialized mediation, arbitration and investigations, as well as training in the fields of family, business/contract, employment, construction, condominium, estate, personal injury, elder, child protection, workplace, and sports amongst other areas.
